Increasing economic and social impact of the Usha Silai Schools initiative is continuously drawing many new corporates and institutions to Usha for partnerships. Usha is open to such partnerships with like minded individuals, institutions and Corporates who are focused on empowering women in rural areas, across all SAARC nations. Corporates are most welcome to take up this initiative as their CSR activity.
As a part of such partnerships, Usha has tied up with various reputed corporate houses like Tata Power Co. Ltd. (TPCL), Reliance Foundation, Punj Llyod and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO). Taken up as a CSR activity under their Sustainable Development Programme by TPCL, the company financed and set up Silai Schools around their Tiruldih Project in Jharkhand, which went on to empower women in eight of its neighbouring villages. While technical, logistics and infrastructural support was given by Usha Silai School to the Reliance Foundation. NEEPCO with support from Usha Silai School set up of 20 Silai Schools in Assam and 8 Silai Schools in Mizoram; whereas Punj Llyod set up a Training cum Production centre for 20 women, in Maneri, Madhya Pradesh. With Votorantim Cimentos (formerly Shree Digvijay Cements) 10 Usha Silai Schools were set up in Gujarat. Indus Integrated Information Management Ltd (a training, skilling and placement agency) partnered with Usha for syllabus creation, training of Master Trainers and certification of 10,000 learners in Bihar and West Bengal
In the past Usha has also partnered with Government institutions such as Murshidabad DRDC (District Rural Development Cell), in West Bengal. Where, DRDC provided the infrastructure – material costs, boarding and lodging facility to the trainers and trainees – for imparting sewing training to women from villages around Domkal. Usha provided all training and technical support.
Thus a partnership can take on various forms. If you would like, as a government body, a private Institution, NGO/INGO or a Corporate to become a partner, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org
